Okay, so I signed up for spn_harlequin prompt, but can't decide which direction to go. So, help, please. :-D

70. Raising the Rancher's Family
New York tycoon Holt Rawlins has ditched his suits, worn in his cowboy boots and pulled his Stetson down low. He's back home to find the truth, not to make friends!

That is until beautiful Leah Keenan bursts into his life. She brings with her a small boy who needs their help. And Holt becomes both father and protector.

That is until gorgeous Hollywood actor Jensen Ackles bursts into his life. He brings with him a small boy who needs their help. And Jared becomes both father and protector. Jensen knows that the family they've created isn't real, and soon he'll have to return to his old life. But to leave will break his heart.  Can Jared persuade Jensen to stay?

When Sam finished law school and joined a firm in New York, he'd thought he'd left his past -the demons, the visions, the hunting- behind. When he has a vision in the middle of a trial, he knows he was wrong. Escaping to a the ranch of a family friend, he'd worn in his cowboy boots and pulled his Stetson down low. He needs to find the truth about himself, not to make friends.

That is, until Dean bursts back into his life. He brings with him a small boy who needs their help. And Jared suddenly becomes both father and protector.

Dean had tried to let Sam have his 'normal life', but when demons start popping back up, he knows he needs help. He also knows that the family they've created isn't real, and soon he'll have to return to his old life without Sam. But to leave will break his heart again.

"Fuck," Jensen swore, pulling his red sports car to the side of the road, finally admitting that he was lost beyond all meaning of the word. "Fuck, fuck, bloody fuck."

"That's a bad word," a little voice piped up from the back seat. "You're not appost to talk like that wif me. It's a bad 'fluence."

Jensen glared at the small boy in the rear view mirror, but Chad just smirked (could four year olds smirk?) at him, little arms crossed over his little chest.

"Thanks for that little morality lesson," Jensen growled, wishing like hell he hadn't promised Sandy that he'd make sure Chad got to his father. Damn her for dying and sending him to this godforsaken outback. He'd left Texas once for a reason, and wasn't looking forward to going back.

Sam was in the middle of his closing argument when it happened. Which was a damn shame, he thought later, because according to his senior partners, Sam was a genius in front of a jury, and they had a 'guilty' verdict all but tied with a ribbon.

But at the time, he didn't have much room for thoughts beyond 'pain', 'hurt' and ironically, 'Dean'.

By the time the vision subsided, paramedics had been called and he was halfway to the hospital. "Seizure," he heard one paramedic say. "Possible concussion."

His first thought was of insurance, and what sort of identification he had in his wallet, before he remembered that he was insured through the firm under the name 'Samuel Winchester', and he didn't have to worry about fake ID's anymore.

And so, now that you've all read all that, please tell me what you think, and which version I should continue writing. :-D

My main preference is for J2! Plus it will be easier to write because you don't have to involve all the myths and facts involved with the demons and the Sam/Dean backstory.

LOL. Yes, the picture is particularly appealing, isn't it? Am nearly sold myself, just for JDM. Because he? Is totally hotter than even Jensen and Jared, and I will stand by that until someone stones me out of fandom. :-D

I like to think that you're joking but I know how passionate this fandom is!

For me, it's the scruffy smile. It doesn't matter what role he's in as long as he has scruff. It makes me want to bite him for some reason. HEY! Maybe THAT'S why the vampires were after him. *nods*

And yes, definitely the scruff. And his smile is just so....slow and sweet and yet has a little edge that says, "why yes m'am, I'd like to throw you down and make sweet, sweet love to you all night long".

And ohhh! Yes! The vamps definitely saw the scruff and wanted to bite. It's a logical explanation! :0D

And have we mentioned the voice? OMG. I could listen to his voice all day. When it gets all low and gravelly. Or when he orders the boys to do something and gets all demanding!

Now all I want to do is watch S1 SPN all day.

Now I want some John/Bobby slash from the 80's. There should so be more of that. *nods* Cuz Bobby is FTW. And is totally the boys' second daddy.

I've never read John/Bobby slash. I once read Dean/Bobby by mistake and that kind of squicked me out but I can get on board John/Bobby if they were out hunting one night and needed a release. Hmmm. Interesting.

Heee, I picture them having had an intense relationship between like, 1985 and 1991 (on and off) but then john got a lead on the demon and their lives were never the same, even when they were hunting together. Dean had a feeling, but no one ever tells kids nuthin', so he never 'knew'. And Sam was just too little and then too focused on his big brother to notice anything.

And, strangely enough, it makes complete sense! I can see it happening that way. Of course, I'm off the belief that as a hunter you aren't gay or straight as due to the livestyle of hunting you will make do with what you can get. And that is why this makes sense.

I can also see John having a relationship with a man as a way of avoiding the heartbreak when Mary died.
