Ok friends, I went to see RENT! last night at the big movie theater and may I just say it was PHENOMENAL! Can I just say how absolutely adorable Jesse L. Martin of Law & Order was as Tom Collins? His big brown eyes and sheepish smile totally made me fall in love with him!! I am so glad they decided to bring back most of the orginal cast, as I saw them when the show was first on Broadway and it just made the movie that much more special. *more fangirlish squeeing*
The theater wasn't really packed, there were only about 20 of us, and although we came in like 5 groups, there was a lot of 7 degrees of separation things going on, and it turned out that everyone knew someone in another group, so it was like an orgy of RENT! loving peeps! It was SOOOOO hard not sing the songs along with the actors, especiall La Vie Boheim, but eventually we were all too enthralled with the movie. The production aspects were aces, and i was very impressed how they made a stage show into such a great movie. God, and when Angel dies.......I'll admit it, I cried a few tears.
One bone I have to pick is taht I didn't especially like Rosario Dawson as Mimi, since I don't particularly like her as an actress, but she had such a great supporting cast that eventually I got over the hate, lol.
So, anyone have any RENT!fic they'd like to share? My twisted little mind is trying to figure out a way to put some Harry Potter people in Manhattan in 1990 and have them meet up with the RENT! people. I was thinking of a pre-POA Lupin finding himself in NYC and the only place he can find a room is with Tom, Roger and the rest. Thoughts anyone??
Also, saw the trailer for Brokeback Mountail and can I just say that my fangirl heart went all smooshy at the thought of Jake Gyllenhall and Heath Ledger falling in love!! HOTNESS!!!!! It comes out in Dec. Hope it makes it to my little town. If not, I'll buy the DVD, as I probably would anyway!! Ok, that is my fangirl limit for the day!!
