Hey everyone! I've started a Harry Potter campfire/round robin type deal thing over are www.writing.com if anyone wants to join. I need some good writers. I don't think you need to be a member so if you want to join send me your e-mail adress and I will send you an invitation. if you do need to join, the membership is free.
here's a short description of what it is about:
Summary
The year is 2005, Harry and his year mates have been gone from Hogwarts for seven years and the Second War is finally over. Many have been lost in battle, and more must begin to rebuild their lives, loves and friendships when Voldemort is finally defeated.
How do these young warriors plan to go on with their lives? Their career paths and futures have been colored by the long war and the fact that, against their parent's wishes, many of the students in Harry's year and above (and a few students in the year behind Harry) fought along side adults in the war. The story starts July 30th, 2005.
Casualities of War
Most of the Death Eaters have been captured or killed, and many of their sons and daughters aided on the side of Light. Those who did not are now lost, either dead or in Azkaban, their lives ruined by poor choices.
The Ministry of Magic must be rebuilt and new officials elected in November. Kingsley Shackelbolt has been asked to be the interim Minister of Magic and will presumably be elected officially in November. Percy Weasley is the Assistant Minister of Magic and will presumbably NOT be re-elected in November. Professors Dumbledore, Flitwick, Vector and McGonagall were lost in the final battle, along with several other Professors at Hogwarts.
Professor Sprout is the new Headmistress and Professor Snape is the Deputy Headmaster and (finally) the professor for DADA. Hagrid is still the Care of Magical Creatures professor, but his health is not the best after the war. The positions of Charms, Transfiguration, Herbology, Ancient Runes, Potions and Arithmancy must be filled before the coming school year.
The Students
Harry and his year mates are now around 24 and have spent most of their twenties fighting against Voldemort and the Death Eaters. They are tired, confused and don't know where to go or what to do now that the war is over.
Harry, Ron and Hermione in particular are tired. They were on the front lines most of the war. Neville as well played a large part in the battle, due to his shared destiny with Harry. Together Neville, The One Who Could Have Been and Harry, The One Who Was, defeated Voldemort by linking their wands and casting the Killing Curse in his direction.
Draco Malfoy, Blaise Zabini (boy) and Pansy Parkinson defied their familes and help bring them to justice. Draco faced his father in the final battle and came out the victor. Other Slytherins also defied their families and fought alongside their classmates.
When the war began, students from all four houses, from Ginny's year and up fought hard and long to make sure the Wizarding World was free from Voldemort and his reign of terror. As the war continued, more students joined the Resistance and by the time the war was over, the young warriors outnumbered the elders by 5 to 1.
The Rules of the Campfire}
Choose a character you would like to write and e-mail me with your choice. I will post them at the bottom so everyone knows who is who. You can decide to write as more than one character, but no more than 3.
The campfire will be limited to 8-10 writers. Try to keep the genders of the characters equal. We don't all have to be one of Harry's contemporaries either. If you want to write as Snape, go ahead. Or one of the elder Weasley brothers, that's fine too.
I will give you 7 days to write, after that I will skip you. Exceptions can be made if you e-mail me about it ahead of time.
Write in 3rd person narrative please. No bio blocks. Just let me know what character(s) you want and when your turn comes, just get to typing.
Slash is great, but not all the characters should be gay. Some het is good too. Also, this campfire is supposed to be about them healing most of all, so really romance should be second to plot.
If I think of anything else, I will add it in here somewhere.
